The Best Kind of Detour: Samosas by the Roadside

There’s a specific kind of magic that happens when you stop looking for the "perfect" shot and start looking for the "perfect" moment.

Earlier today, I was chasing the light on my way to Mandal Pond. I had my eyes set on the water and the horizon, but about halfway there, the smell of hot oil and toasted spices pulled me over to the shoulder of the road.

I found this tiny, weathered cart tucked under the shade of a neem tree, and I just couldn't resist.

The Gallery: Golden Hour & Golden Crust

The setup was simple, but the atmosphere was heavy with that classic roadside charm. You can almost hear the sizzle of the fritters hitting the oil.

Texture is everything. The smooth, golden triangles of the samosas—street food is a masterclass in geometry and cravings.

More Than Just a Snack

What I love about street photography is the story of the hustle. This little cart isn't just a place to grab a quick bite; it’s a landmark for locals and a lifeline for hungry travelers. The vendor didn't say much, but the way he expertly flipped those fritters spoke volumes about years of craft.

The light was hitting the cart just right—that soft, pre-sunset glow that makes everything look a bit more cinematic. I ended up spending twenty minutes there, chatting with a few other commuters and, of course, doing some "quality control" on the samosas. (Spoiler: They were incredible.)

By the time I reached Mandal Pond, the sun was low, and my belly was full. Sometimes the journey really is better than the destination—especially when the journey involves deep-fried snacks.
