A Sunday Ride to Eklingji: Royal Enfield 350 Electra & The Red Algae Mystery

Sunday Rumbles: Royal Enfield Rides and Crimson Waters at Eklingji

There is something meditative about the thump of a Royal Enfield 350 Electra on a Sunday evening. As the sun began its descent, I took my bike out for a soul-cleansing ride toward the historic Eklingji Temple near Udaipur.

The ride itself was a dream, but the visual surprises along the way were what really made me pull over and grab my camera.

The Crimson Mystery: Water or Grass?

Just off the main path, I stumbled upon a small pond (or perhaps a submerged plot) that completely stopped me in my tracks. It was entirely blanketed in a thick layer of red algae.

From a distance, it’s an optical illusion. Is it a plush red carpet of grass? Or is it a hidden pond reflecting a surreal, alien world? Even looking through my lens, it was hard to judge. The vibrant red against the earthy tones of the surrounding landscape created a contrast that felt almost cinematic.

Sunset Over Lake Baghela & The Mountains

As I continued, I reached the banks of Lake Baghela. If you’ve never been here during the "golden hour," you’re missing out on one of the most serene spots in Rajasthan.

I managed to capture the sun dipping behind the rugged mountains, casting a warm, honey-colored glow over the vast green fields. There’s a specific kind of peace that comes with watching a sunset over the water while your Electra cools down nearby.

  • The View: Layers of deep blue mountains meeting the soft greens of the countryside.

  • The Vibe: Pure, unadulterated "Moto-Photography" bliss.

Final Thoughts on the Ride

Sunday rides aren't just about the destination; they’re about the textures you find along the way—like the mystery of a red pond or the way the light hits the Aravallis. The 350 Electra remains the perfect companion for these slow, observational journeys.

What do you think of the red pond—is it water or a trick of the light? Let me know in the comments below!
